Jezebel

Jezebel is a rescue from Catherine Hedges. I adopted her when she was 3 years old and is hands down the greatest thing I have ever done. When Jez turned 4 she became chronichally sick with stomach and gastrointestinal issues, so bad at times she was often hospitalized. It has been a constant battle for Jezebel, but she handles in a manner that is so admirable, and she does not even know what an inspiration she is to me and my family. Her will to live is exceptional. She is so happy and conveys it daily. She is the most vocal little girl I know. When you speak to her, she gurgles back. Who knows what she is saying, but whatever it is, it puts a smile on so many peoples' faces. Recently Jezebel was diagnosed with stomach cancer. I thought this time around I was going to lose her for sure. She lost 14 lbs (usually a 50 lb dog) would not eat, and was vomitting on average 5 to 6 times a day. We decided on one last biopsy, which is when we discovered a stomach coated with cancer. Within a week, the vet had her on pred and chemo, and she literally bounced back over night. Again, she amazed all of us. She has put on 20 lbs (a bit overweight for her vet's liking, but how can you say no to a dog so willing to eat after such a long period of not eating). She enjoys long walks again, going hiking in the woods, and bbq'ing with her grandpa.. She loves life again.Jez still has an occasional bad day, which is to be expected. But the good days definitely outweigh the bad. Jezebel is the greatest  blessing I know and without her, my life would not be nearly as fulfilled. I feel closer to her than I do any human on this planet - maybe it is because of everything we have been through together. I would have had it no other way. She is the love of my life. I wish words could express the love I have for her, but they cannot. Everyone should be so lucky to have a Jezebel in their life. I thank god every day for her.
